The best Champagne tours from Paris

Eight Champagne tours from Paris, from an hour on the Seine to a private day by car. They differ in five things: which houses, how many glasses, lunch, pickup and group size. Here is the whole field, and our pick for each kind of traveller.

Group size changes the day. Most tours here cap it at seven or eight.

Every tour on this list runs from Paris and includes the ride there and back. Beyond that they split fast. Some name a big house, others promise one subject to availability. Some include lunch, others give you an hour in Épernay to buy your own. Some collect you at your hotel, one meets at a café at 7 a.m.

The houses and the day come from each listing on GetYourGuide in 2026.

The quick answer

The best Champagne tour from Paris for most people is the 8-tastings day with lunch: a big house, a family estate or co-op, at least eight tastings and lunch, eight guests at most. On a budget, the six-glass small group. For wine lovers, the sommelier-led tour. For the famous names by booking, the private Moët and Veuve Clicquot day.

What is the best Champagne tour from Paris?

The 8-tastings day with lunch, for most people: a famous house, a family producer, lunch with at least three Champagnes and a minivan of eight.

The 8-tastings day is the most-booked tour in the category, run by My Winedays. It balances the two halves of Champagne: a big house in the morning, with chalk cellars and a polished tasting, and a family estate or cooperative after lunch. You get at least eight tastings, a lunch at a family-run house or local restaurant, and hotel pickup in central Paris.

The fine print: the big house is named by example only (Mumm, Veuve Clicquot, Moët and others), the tour needs four travellers to run, and it is not for children under 4. A guest wrote: "We had a great day with Cedric, visiting a large house (Mumm) as well as two smaller houses and a nice lunch."

What is the cheapest Champagne tour from Paris?

The six-glass small group, then the sabrage tour, which costs a little more. Neither includes lunch, and the cheaper one has no hotel pickup.

The six-glass small group by Blue Fox Travel is the lowest price for a full day: Reims Cathedral, a family winery, the Nicolas Feuillatte cellars and the abbey at Hautvillers where, the listing says, Dom Pérignon is buried. Three glasses at each house. You meet the grey minibus at Café Dada in Ternes at 7 a.m. and it leaves on time. Lunch is a one-hour stop in Épernay at your own cost.

For a little more, the small group with sabrage picks you up at your hotel in central Paris and adds a blind tasting and a sabrage demonstration, with a big house named from a short list, subject to availability. It runs 12 hours. One guest called it "simply one of the best days of our stay in France!"

Which Champagne tours include lunch?

Two: the 8-tastings day, with lunch and at least three Champagnes, and the cathedral day, with a three-course lunch in Épernay.

Lunch is the hidden price difference. On the 8-tastings day you eat at a family-run Champagne house or a local restaurant, for about two hours, with at least three Champagnes in the glass. On the cathedral day you get a three-course lunch in Épernay. Extra food and drinks are not included.

On the six-glass, sabrage and sommelier tours you buy your own, usually in Épernay. Add that to the price before you compare. The private days leave lunch to you too; the Moët and Veuve Clicquot day lists it as optional, at extra cost.

Which tour is best for wine lovers?

The sommelier-led cellars tour: a sommelier-guide, max 7 guests, Pressoria in Aÿ, Moët, a family house and a tasting among the vines.

The sommelier tour by BackTrip skips the cathedral and spends the day on wine. Hautvillers first, then two hours at Pressoria, Pommery's sensory pressing museum in Aÿ. After lunch in Épernay (your own cost): Moët & Chandon, then Champagne Charles Mignon, a sixth-generation family house, or Mercier. It ends with a tasting in the Hautvillers vineyards.

The cost is time: 12 to 13 hours. It is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility. A guest wrote: "We had generous tastings at 3 houses ( Mercier, Moet/Chandon and Charles Mignon) that were not rushed".

Which tours visit family growers, not only the big names?

The 8-tastings day, the six-glass small group and the sabrage tour all include a family producer. The sommelier tour adds a sixth-generation house.

This is the main argument for a tour over the train. About 16,000 growers work in Champagne (Comité Champagne), mostly in villages off the railway and open by appointment. The 8-tastings day lists one well-known house plus two small family vineyards, or a cooperative and a family vineyard. The six-glass small group pours three glasses at a family-run winery. The sabrage tour starts at a family-owned producer with a cellar tour.

The private days go the other way: big names only. A guest on the six-glass day liked the mix: "An excellent day covering a small family winery experience and large corporate winery experience."

A family press house: the visit you cannot book from a train timetable.

Is a private Champagne tour from Paris worth the money?

Only if a named house or your own pace matters more than the price. The private Moët and Veuve Clicquot day costs more than double a small group.

The private Moët and Veuve Clicquot day by Clewel Travel is the one tour that books both houses by name. A Mercedes collects you at 7:30 a.m.; Moët from 10:00, lunch on your own, Hautvillers, Veuve Clicquot from 14:45, the cathedral, and back around 8 p.m. The driver speaks English; the cellar tours are run by the houses.

The private Veuve Clicquot half day is the shorter version: one house and the cathedral, home by about 4 p.m. The driver is not a guide, and free cancellation ends three days before. For the same money, two people can book the house themselves and take the TGV.

What should you check before booking a Champagne tour?

Five things: whether the big house is named or "subject to availability", lunch, pickup, the age limit and the cancellation rule.

  • The house: most listings name the big house as an example only. If one house matters, see visiting the houses on your own.
  • Lunch: included on two tours only. Budget about an hour and a meal in Épernay on the others.
  • Pickup: hotel pickup on most; the six-glass tour meets at Ternes at 7 a.m.; the cathedral day drops you at your hotel.
  • Age and access: the cathedral day is 16+; the 8-tastings day not under 4; the sommelier tour not for wheelchair users.
  • Minimum numbers: the 8-tastings day needs four travellers or offers an alternative or a refund.
  • Cancellation: 24 hours on all but the private Veuve Clicquot day (3 days).

For when to go, see the best time to visit Champagne.

Our pick for most people: a big house, a family producer, at least eight tastings and lunch.
